About the Author — 

Ruskin Bond is one of India’s most beloved storytellers, with a writing career spanning over six decades and more than 120 titles to his name—including novels, essays, poetry, and numerous children’s books. Born in 1934 in Kasauli and raised in the foothills of the Himalayas (Shimla, Dehradun, and New Delhi), Bond currently resides in Mussoorie, which remains the backdrop for much of his writing. His debut novel, The Room on the Roof, won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957, and he has since received numerous honors, including the Sahitya Akademi Award (1992), the Padma Shri (1999), and the Padma Bhushan (2014).
