Half Bad is the first part of the fantasy in a planned trilogy, centering around the story of witches in modern England. It is the story of Nathan, his journey to discover his identity, and the unrelenting attitude to constantly strive for survival amidst overwhelming adversities. Nathan was captured and tortured by the white witches, in order to plot murder against his father - the most powerful and evil black witch ever. Before Nathan turns seventeen, he had to acquire the three magical gifts from his father, otherwise he will die.

In modern times in England, white and black witches lived among humans, referred to as fains. While white witches would stealthily manipulate the humans, the black ones, according to the white witches, would ruthlessly murder white ones and steal their power. Nathan’s father, Marcus, was the most powerful dark witch, and his mother, Cora Byrn, was a white witch, who committed suicide under the tyranny of Marcus. Nathan was a half-code, half black and half white , and so the subject of scrutiny and disgust for witches of all stripes. He was taken away from his father at the age of 14 by a white witch, and captured, beaten, and handcuffed. Nathan had to take three gifts at the age of seventeen, that would be given by his father and which would complete his transition into witchhood. Just before his seventeenth birthday, Nathan escaped in search of a way to find his magical gifts. But with the entire world of witches hunting for him, and with no one to trust Nathan has to survive to carve his own destiny.

Half Bad is a grappling fantasy, keeping its readers speculating till the end. It is an entertaining beginning to the planned trilogy. It was published by Penguin in 2014, and is available in paperback.
