About the Author 
Jagadguru Swami Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja (1884–1960) served as Shankaracharya of Govardhan Math at Puri and Dwarka. Recognized as a prodigious scholar, he earned seven M.A. degrees by age 20 in fields including Sanskrit, philosophy, mathematics, English, and science. After years of deep meditation and “tapas,” he reconstructed the 16 sutras of what he termed “Vedic Mathematics.” Originally he composed a full 16‑volume series, which was lost; in later years, despite failing eyesight, he condensed his teachings into a single volume published posthumously in 1965. Tirthaji traveled widely promoting Vedanta, mathematics, and spiritual teachings until his passing in 1960
