About the Author

Greg Mortenson is an American humanitarian, former mountaineer, and co-founder of the Central Asia Institute, an organization focused on building schools in remote areas of Central Asia. While his work gained worldwide praise, Three Cups of Tea later drew scrutiny for inaccuracies and financial mismanagement. Despite controversies, the story remains a powerful account of one man’s mission to bring education to underserved communities. David Oliver Relin, the co-author, was a journalist and writer known for his human-interest stories. He passed away in 2012.
