About the author

Enid Blyton (1897–1968) was a renowned English author, best known for her extensive contributions to children's literature. Born in East Dulwich, London, she was the eldest of three children in the Blyton family. Her early life was marked by a close bond with her father, Thomas Carey Blyton, who nurtured her interests in nature and the arts. However, her relationship with her mother, Theresa, was strained, and after her father's departure from the family, Enid distanced herself from her mother, even choosing not to attend her funeral later in life.

Blyton's academic journey led her to St. Christopher's School in Beckenham, where she excelled in sports and was appointed Head Girl. She later pursued teacher training at Ipswich High School, completing her course in 1918. Initially working as a teacher and governess, Blyton transitioned to full-time writing in the early 1920s. Her first published work, Child Whispers, a collection of poems, was released in 1922.
