In this adventure, Pip, Bets, Larry, Daisy, Fatty, and Buster get themselves into a mix-up involving Ern, the policeman's nephew. Mistaking him for Fatty in disguise, Ern reports the incident to Mr Goon, who promptly forbids the children from solving any more mysteries. Far from deterred, the Find‑Outers concoct a clever ruse—fabricating tales of kidnappers and robbers on Christmas Hill to lure Mr Goon and Ern into investigating a fake mystery.

Amid the shenanigans, Ern mistakenly stumbles onto a real mystery near Harry’s Folly, where eerie voices, footsteps, and flickering lights spark genuine intrigue. The children initially doubt Ern's claims, but Fatty soon dresses as Ern to investigate. When Ern is captured by criminals at Harry’s Folly, the Find‑Outers spring into action, coordinating with Inspector Jenks. The next morning, he dispatches six police cars, rescues Ern, and the case is neatly wrapped up—Ern even agrees to destroy a rude poem Fatty wrote about Mr Goon.

About the Author –

Enid Mary Blyton was born on August 11, 1897, in East Dulwich, London, and spent much of her childhood in nearby Beckenham, Kent. A bright and spirited girl, she was appointed head girl at St. Christopher’s School for Girls. Even then, Blyton had a vivid imagination—she created her own magazine called Dab with friends, writing short stories for it .

Initially training as a teacher, she published her first collection of poems, Child Whispers, in 1922 and went on to become a full-time writer by the mid‑1920s. After marrying editor Hugh Pollock in 1924, Blyton’s writing career flourished. She launched popular series such as The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, Malory Towers, Noddy, and of course, The Five Find‑Outers, producing a staggering output of around 700 books and nearly 2,000 short stories
