About the Author: 

Sudha Murty, born in 1950 in Shiggaon, North Karnataka, is a renowned Indian author, philanthropist, educator, and engineer. She holds a master's degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Murty is the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and the Murty Trust. A prolific writer, she has authored over 300 books in English and Kannada, encompassing novels, short stories, children's literature, and travelogues. Her works have been translated into all major Indian languages and have sold over 6 million copies across the country .

In recognition of her contributions to literature and society, Sudha Murty has received numerous accolades, including the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards from the Government of India in 2023 and 2006, respectively. She has also been honored with the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature in 2006 and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award in 2020. Additionally, she has been awarded nineteen honorary doctorates from various universities across India .

Murty's storytelling is celebrated for its simplicity, moral depth, and universal appeal, making her a beloved figure in Indian literature.
