About the Author – 

Dr. Bimal Jalan (b. 17 August 1941) is an esteemed economist, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (1997–2003), and a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha (2003–2009) With degrees from Presidency College (Calcutta), Cambridge, and Oxford, he served as Chief Economic Adviser, Banking Secretary, Finance Secretary, and as India’s representative at the IMF and World Bank.
