The author G. Harokopos comes from the village Patsos of the Re thymnon prefecture. He had just graduated from the Academy as a teacher, when the battle of Crete took place. After the battle he took immediately part in the Resistance.
Yiannis Ioannidis in his book Flo ming casocks refers to the author on page 178:
we have to point out in this respect, that Harokopos, who parti- cipated at a later stage in the kidnap ping of general Kreipe, was conside- red by the Germans as one of the most dangerous agents of the Allies, In a top secret order issued by the German counter-espionage service, it says, among other things: «This young man (meaning George Haro- kopos) gets in contact not only with the guerillas but with the British who are on the island, as well. He is a teacher by profession but does not teach. He knows quite a lot. B. had reported his frequent visits to spots X3, XT and X2. Not to be arrested for the time being. To be closely followed. We shall be informed of his contacts via B. Precaution: He might be armed. Clever and active member of the secret organization of the island. If he finds out he is under watching, he might disappear. In such a case, activate immediately plan FIERY CIRCLE. The same stands also for the afore mentioned persons.....
G. Harokopos has published hi- storic articles in various newspapers and magazines and in an anglopho- ne newspaper of Athens. He has also written the history of general Krei- pe's kidnap.
