Book Summary:
The First Billion by Christopher Reich is a high-octane financial thriller centered on John “Jett” Gavallan, a former fighter pilot turned Wall Street wunderkind who founded Black Jet Securities. On the brink of taking Russia’s Mercury Broadband public on the NYSE, Jett faces rumors of massive fraud mere days before the IPO. He dispatches his trusted second-in-command, Grafton Byrnes, to Moscow to investigate, but Byrnes vanishes amid growing suspicion. Jett suddenly finds himself thrust into a lethal conspiracy that pits him against enigmatic oligarch Konstantin Kirov, who wields corporate power and political influence through murky alliances. As FBI scrutiny tightens and hired killers close in, Jett races across the globe—from Palm Beach to Zurich to Moscow—chasing answers and trying to salvage both his future and his company. Packed with high-stakes intrigue, corporate greed, and pulse-pounding suspense, the novel explores how far one will go in pursuit of the ultimate prize—and the cost of crossing powerful people.
