Set in 1025 CE India, The Chola Tigers: Avengers of Somnath is a historical fiction novel by Amish that imagines a dramatic retaliation after Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni’s attack on the Somnath temple. Mahmud's destruction of the temple—symbolised by the Shiva Linga being shattered—and the massacre that follows leave the people of Bharat reeling. Amid the ruins, an oath is taken by five individuals: a Tamil warrior, a Gujarati merchant, a devotee of Lord Ayyappa, a scholar‑emperor from Malwa, and, most importantly, Emperor Rajendra Chola. United by grief and determination, they embark on a perilous quest to strike back at Ghazni and restore honour and dharma to their land. The novel promises sweeping scale — from the glory of the Chola Empire to the bloodstained courts of Ghazni — weaving tales of courage, sacrifice, political intrigue, vengeance, and a unifying quest in the face of overwhelming adversity.

About the Author: 

Amish Tripathi is an Indian author born in 1974, educated at IIM Kolkata, who originally worked in banking before turning to full‑time writing. He is known for combining deep research, mythology, history, philosophy, and spirituality in his works. His debut novel The Immortals of Meluha (first of the Shiva Trilogy) launched him into fame; since then, he has authored multiple bestselling series like the Ram Chandra Series, and The Indic Chronicles. His books have sold over 8 million copies and have been translated into 20‑21 languages.
