About the Author –
Hergé, born Georges Remi (1907–1983), was a Belgian cartoonist and the creator of The Adventures of Tintin. With his innovative ligne claire (“clear line”) style and eye for detail, he set new artistic and narrative standards for comics. While his earlier Tintin stories leaned more toward light adventure, The Blue Lotus showed Hergé’s growing dedication to authenticity and cultural accuracy, thanks to his collaboration with a Chinese student, Zhang Chongren, who influenced the respectful portrayal of China in the book. Over his career, Hergé produced 24 Tintin albums, which became global classics translated into more than 70 languages, establishing him as one of the most influential figures in the history of graphic novels.
