About the Author

Satyajit Ray (1921–1992) was an Indian filmmaker, writer, illustrator, and composer, widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century. Born in Kolkata, Ray began his career as a commercial artist and later ventured into filmmaking. His debut film, Pather Panchali (1955), won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and marked the beginning of the acclaimed Apu Trilogy.

Beyond cinema, Ray was a prolific writer, creating beloved characters like Feluda, the astute detective, and Professor Shonku, the eccentric scientist. His works have been translated into multiple languages, and his contributions to literature and cinema have left an indelible mark on global culture.
