About the Author – 

Thomas Ashley‑Farrand (also known by his spiritual name Namadeva Acharya; 1940–2010) was a pioneering Western Vedic priest and one of the few non-Indian experts deeply initiated in Sanskrit mantra traditions. Over decades, he studied under Eastern masters and held formal roles as priest and teacher, leading rituals, retreats, and empowering thousands in mantra-based spiritual practices. Highly respected for his precise pronunciation of Sanskrit and immersive knowledge, he authored numerous books and audio programs—including Healing Mantras, Chakra Mantras, and The Ancient Science of Sanskrit Mantra and Ceremony. His teachings spanned guidance in personal transformation, mythology, and practical spirituality, often emphasizing that mysticism serves everyday life.

As founder of Sanatana Dharma Satsang and Saraswati Publications, he also trained other mantra teachers and priests. With a background in media and leadership consulting, Ashley‑Farrand combined scholarly insight with accessible teaching, helping Western learners connect authentically with yogic and devotional traditions.
