Second Thoughts is a novel written by the famous Indian writer, Shobhaa De. It is about a girl named Maya, who belongs to a middle - class family in Calcutta. Her parents arrange her marriage with a handsome, career - oriented and hard - working guy named Ranjan, who has a degree from a university in America.
Ranjan is from a rich family and seems be the perfect match for Maya. After getting married to Ranjan, Maya moves to Mumbai and shortly finds out that Ranjan is a strict, insensitive and highly conservative person.
