About the Author — 

Ruskin Bond is one of India’s most beloved and enduring authors, celebrated for his ability to capture the beauty of everyday life through simple, heartfelt storytelling. Born in 1934 in Kasauli, British India, Bond spent much of his life in the hills of Dehradun and Mussoorie, which deeply influenced his writing. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has written novels, short stories, essays, poems, and children’s books—many of which are now literary staples in Indian schools.

His debut novel, The Room on the Roof, won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957. Bond has been honored with several prestigious awards including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Padma Shri (1999), and Padma Bhushan (2014). He continues to write from his home in Mussoorie, charming generations of readers with his deep love for nature, nostalgic narratives, and gentle humanism.
