About the Author:
Ruskin Bond (born May 19, 1934 in Kasauli, British India) is a celebrated Anglo-Indian author whose career spans decades and includes over 500 short stories, essays, novellas, and more than 50 books for children. His storytelling is renowned for simplicity, wit, and its vivid evocation of life in the foothills of the Himalayas—especially Mussoorie and Landour, where he lives today. He first achieved literary fame with his teenage novel The Room on the Roof (born from his own experiences in Dehradun), which earned the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957. Over the years, he received India's Sahitya Akademi Award (1992), the Padma Shri (1999), and the Padma Bhushan (2014).
