Louise Lynn Hay (née Helen Vera Lunney; October 8, 1926 – August 30, 2017) was a pioneering self-help author, speaker, and spiritual mentor. Rising from an abusive and impoverished childhood, she reinvented herself in New York as a fashion model before finding her calling in metaphysical healing and motivational teaching. After being diagnosed with cervical cancer in the late 1970s—and turning away from conventional treatment—she embraced holistic healing, forgiveness, and affirmations, eventually deciding her illness had resolved through these methods.

In 1984 she self-published Heal Your Body, and later that year released her iconic You Can Heal Your Life, which sold over 50 million copies and landed on The New York Times bestseller list after her appearances on Oprah and Donahue in 1988.
