About the Author

Manohar Devadoss (1936–2022) was an acclaimed Indian artist, writer, and engineer hailing from Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Despite losing his vision due to retinitis pigmentosa, he continued to produce intricate pen-and-ink artworks, capturing the cultural heritage of Madurai and Chennai. His works ranged from greeting-card sketches to deeply personal memoirs, and he was honored with the Padma Shri in 2020 for his contributions to art and charity. A self-taught artist who overcame immense adversity, Mano also used his creative talents and book royalties to establish charitable initiatives in memory of his beloved wife .
