About the Author –
Manjari Jaruhar is a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1976 batch, belonging to the Bihar cadre, and the first woman from Bihar to join the IPS. Over her distinguished career spanning more than three decades, she served in various key positions, including leadership roles in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D). Jaruhar is widely recognized for her contributions to law enforcement, women’s empowerment, and police reform in India. After retirement, she has continued to mentor and inspire young officers and women professionals through her writings and public speaking. Her memoir Madam Sir stands as a testament to her pioneering spirit and unwavering commitment to public service.
