About the Author –
Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) was a Hindu monk, philosopher, and spiritual leader who played a pivotal role in introducing Indian philosophy and Vedanta to the Western world. Born as Narendranath Datta in Kolkata, he was a brilliant student with a deep curiosity about religion and the nature of existence. He became a disciple of the mystic Sri Ramakrishna, who guided him toward spiritual realization and service to humanity.
Vivekananda is best known for his historic speech at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893, where he began with the words “Sisters and Brothers of America,” earning a standing ovation. He spoke of the unity of all religions, the power of the soul, and the importance of inner strength. Afterward, he spent several years teaching and lecturing across the West, inspiring countless people.
In India, he founded the Ramakrishna Mission, which combines spiritual teachings with social service. Vivekananda's writings continue to inspire millions, especially youth, with their message of fearlessness, self-discipline, and universal brotherhood.
