About the Authors
Jessica Buchanan and her husband Erik Landemalm were both dedicated humanitarian workers in Somalia when she was kidnapped. After their rescue, they relocated to the United States and have shared their story widely while raising their son August (born in October 2012). They lecture together on their experiences, using their experiences to educate and inspire others. Anthony Flacco, a seasoned nonfiction writer with an MFA in screenwriting from the American Film Institute, helped shape the narrative—collaborating seamlessly with Jessica and Erik to craft their story into a compelling, cinematic memoir.
