About the Author
Mary Higgins Clark (1927–2020) was an American author renowned for her suspense novels, often referred to as the "Queen of Suspense." Born Mary Theresa Eleanor Higgins in the Bronx, New York, she began writing poetry at the age of six and kept diaries throughout her life, which inspired many of her story ideas. She worked as a secretary and a flight attendant before becoming a full-time writer. Her debut suspense novel, Where Are the Children? (1975), was an immediate success, leading to a series of multimillion-dollar contracts with publisher Simon & Schuster
