About the Author –

Francesca Simon, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1955, grew up in California before studying medieval history and literature at Yale and Oxford. She worked as a journalist for major outlets like The Sunday Times and The Guardian before transitioning to full-time children’s literature around 1989. 

In 1994, she introduced Horrid Henry, a character who would become the UK’s bestselling chapter-book hero. The series has sold millions of copies worldwide, been translated into over 27 languages, and spawned both TV and film adaptations. She’s received outstanding recognition—including the Children’s Book of the Year Award and a Gold Blue Peter badge—and was appointed MBE in the 2023 New Year Honours for her contributions to literature.

Simon currently lives in North London with her husband and son, and continues to write with a sharp wit and deep understanding of childhood humor and families in conflict (a key inspiration behind her mischievous protagonist).
