  • Later, Pip is invited to the decaying mansion of Miss Havisham, an eccentric woman who was abandoned on her wedding day and lives in the past. There, Pip falls in love with her beautiful but cold ward, Estella.

  • As a teenager, Pip receives news that he has a mysterious benefactor and is to be raised as a gentleman in London — he assumes it is Miss Havisham.

  • In London, Pip adopts upper-class manners but becomes increasingly disillusioned as he learns the cost of pride, shame, and ambition.

  • Eventually, he discovers his true benefactor is not Miss Havisham, but Magwitch, the convict he helped as a boy — now a self-made man in Australia.

  • The story concludes with Pip experiencing loss, redemption, and emotional growth, as he reconciles with Joe and seeks a more honest life. The novel has two endings: one more hopeful and one more ambiguous regarding his future with Estella.
