In this first book of the Famous Five series, Julian, Dick, Anne, George (Georgina), and her dog Timmy head to Kirrin Island for a holiday with their Uncle Quentin. The island is remote and somewhat mysterious, with the only access being by boat. The children soon realize that they are not alone in their exploration of the island.
