About the Author –

J.M. Coetzee is a South African-born novelist, essayist, and translator, acclaimed for his intellectually rigorous and morally probing fiction. Born in 1940 in Cape Town, Coetzee has received numerous international awards, including the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2003 and the Booker Prize twice—first for Life & Times of Michael K in 1983 and again for Disgrace in 1999. His writing often explores themes of colonialism, identity, morality, and human suffering, marked by a restrained yet powerful style. Coetzee has also worked as an academic, and his philosophical background informs much of his fiction. He later became an Australian citizen and resides in Adelaide.
