In 1995, he established a management laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, focusing on rigorous research and executive education. His notable works include Good to Great, How the Mighty Fall, and Great by Choice, which have collectively sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Collins has also served as a senior executive at CNN International and worked with various organizations, including the United States Marine Corps and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. In 2017, Forbes recognized him as one of the 100 Greatest Living Business Minds.

Jerry I. Porras is an esteemed organizational theorist and educator, best known for his work on organizational vision and change. He earned his BSEE from Texas Western College in 1960, his MBA from Cornell University in 1968, and his PhD from UCLA in 1974. Porras began his academic career at Stanford University in 1972, where he became a professor at the Graduate School of Business and served as Associate Dean from 1991 to 1994. He retired in 2001 and was appointed Lane Professor Emeritus of Organizational Behavior and Change. In addition to Built to Last, Porras co-authored Success Built to Last: Creating A Life That Matters, further exploring themes of enduring success.
