About the Author

Lincoln Peirce (pronounced "purse") is an American cartoonist and author, best known for creating the Big Nate comic strip, which began in 1991 and has been syndicated in over 400 newspapers worldwide. Born on October 23, 1963, in Ames, Iowa, Peirce was inspired by Charles Schulz's Peanuts and his own experiences as a sixth-grader. He studied art at Colby College and earned an MFA from Brooklyn College. In addition to his work on Big Nate, Peirce has written animated shorts for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. He currently resides in Portland, Maine, with his wife and two children.
