Lincoln Peirce is an American cartoonist, writer, and illustrator best known as the creator of the beloved Big Nate book and comic series. Born in 1963 in Iowa and raised in New Hampshire, Peirce began creating cartoons in his youth and later studied art and animation at Colby College and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. The Big Nate comic strip debuted in newspapers in 1991 and quickly became a hit, eventually expanding into novels and graphic novels that have sold millions of copies worldwide. Peirce’s humor, relatable characters, and clever storytelling have made him a favorite among middle-grade readers. In addition to Big Nate, he also created Max & the Midknights, a humorous medieval adventure series. Peirce continues to inspire young readers with his engaging stories that blend humor, heart, and the ups and downs of growing up.
