Eoin Colfer (pronounced “Owen”), born 14 May 1965 in Wexford, Ireland, is a renowned author celebrated for blending fantasy, technology, and humor  A trained primary-school teacher from Trinity College Dublin, he taught in Wexford before journeying to Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Italy—a period that inspired his debut, Benny and Omar (1998) . He transitioned to full-time writing after launching Artemis Fowl in 2001.

The series achieved global success—with over 25 million copies sold in 40 languages—and was named the public’s favorite Puffin Modern Classic .
