About the Author – 

Ruskin Bond (born May 19, 1934, in Kasauli, now Himachal Pradesh) is one of India’s most cherished writers—especially renowned for his contributions to children’s literature. He wrote his debut novel, The Room on the Roof, at age seventeen, which won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957. Over the decades, he has authored more than 500 short stories, essays, and novellas, and created over forty (or more) children’s books . A recipient of numerous honors including the Sahitya Akademi Award (1992), Padma Shri (1999), and Padma Bhushan (2014), Bond continues to live in Landour, Mussoorie—where his storytelling draws deeply from the beauty of the hills he calls home.
