About the Author – 
Khushwant Singh (1915–2014) was one of India’s most prominent and provocative writers, journalists, and public intellectuals. Educated at Government College, Lahore, and King's College London, he practiced law before turning to writing and journalism. Best known for his novel Train to Pakistan, a powerful account of Partition, Singh wrote with clarity, humor, and fearless honesty on politics, religion, and society. He served as editor of major publications like The Illustrated Weekly of India and Hindustan Times, and was also a Member of Parliament. Despite being born into a Sikh family, Singh often identified as agnostic and was known for challenging religious orthodoxy and championing rational thought, secularism, and liberal values. Ashok Chopra, his long-time friend and publisher, co-authored this book, capturing the essence of Singh’s candid worldview.
