Rasipuram Krishnaswami Laxman (1921–2015), popularly known as R. K. Laxman, was one of India’s most celebrated cartoonists and the creator of the beloved “Common Man” character. His daily cartoon strip, You Said It, published in The Times of India for over five decades, became a hallmark of Indian journalism and political satire. Laxman’s unique ability to blend humour with social criticism earned him numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and the Ramon Magsaysay Award. His work is admired for its keen observation, gentle wit, and deep empathy for the everyday Indian.
