About the Author

Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Laxman (1921–2015) was a renowned Indian cartoonist, illustrator, and humorist, best known for creating the iconic character "The Common Man." His cartoons offered a satirical and often poignant commentary on Indian society and politics. Laxman began his career as a part-time cartoonist and later joined The Times of India, where his daily cartoon strip "You Said It" became a staple for readers. His work earned him several prestigious awards, including the Padma Bhushan (1973) and Padma Vibhushan (2005), as well as the Ramon Magsaysay Award (1984) for journalism .
