The warts-and-all experiences of his alter ego, Greg Heffley, are recorded in a diary that Greg's mother bought him to make him more "thoughtful." But as Greg says, "Just don't expect me to be all 'Dear Diary' this and 'Dear Diary' that. If she thinks I'm going to write down my 'feelings' or whatever in here, she's crazy." However, as in all the best coming-of-age stories, what Greg Heffley says he won't do and what he actually does are two very different things.

About the Author

Jeff Kinney is an American author, illustrator, and game designer, best known for creating the wildly popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Born on February 19, 1971, in Fort Washington, Maryland, Kinney developed an early interest in cartoons and storytelling. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he created a comic strip called Igdoof for the student newspaper, The Diamondback. Initially majoring in computer science, he later switched to criminal justice to allow more time for his creative pursuits
