She is a graduate in Economics from Sophia College, Mumbai, and earned her MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 1993. Bansal co-founded JAM (Just Another Magazine), one of India's most popular youth magazines. Her debut book, Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, became a bestseller, followed by Connect the Dots and several others, collectively selling over 1.2 million copies and translated into 12 languages.
Bansal has also contributed as a columnist for Businessworld and Business Today and served as a consulting editor at Bloomberg UTV. She mentors young entrepreneurs and teaches a course titled 'Road Less Travelled' at Ashoka University.
