Book Summary:
Bloodline is a gripping thriller by Sidney Sheldon, first published in 1977. The novel centers on a wealthy, powerful family, the Costain family, whose name is tied to a global pharmaceutical empire. The story revolves around Elizabeth, a young woman who suddenly finds herself at the heart of a deadly conspiracy after her father’s mysterious death.
Elizabeth, the protagonist, is a successful and intelligent woman working at the family company, but her life is turned upside down when her father, a powerful man in the pharmaceutical industry, is found dead under suspicious circumstances. She soon learns that his death was not an accident, but part of a larger plot involving her family’s empire.
As Elizabeth delves deeper into the mystery of her father’s death, she uncovers shocking secrets about the family, their business dealings, and the dark undercurrents of corruption and deceit running through their lives. She discovers that she has been used as a pawn in a game of corporate intrigue, and that someone is trying to erase her family’s legacy.
With danger closing in from all sides, Elizabeth must navigate treacherous waters filled with betrayal, deceit, and murder to uncover the truth. She is faced with difficult choices, and her struggle to protect herself and those she loves becomes a battle for survival as she uncovers startling revelations about her own bloodline.
The novel is fast-paced, filled with suspense, and explores themes of power, greed, and family loyalty. As in many of Sheldon’s works, there are twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end.
