Bheeshma, born as Davavrata to King Shantanu and River Goddess, Ganga, came to be known as Bheeshma after his supreme oath of celibacy. This title on the great warrior of The Mahabharata, narrates the story of this eight Vasu (Celestial Being), who was cursed to be born as a human. The story also tells us how Bheeshma tried to prevent the Mahabharata War, but eventually fought for the Kauravas due to his oath.
