‘Bagala’ is a novel authored by Prasad Kumthekar. He has given the first novel in the history of Marathi literature which is in a dialect, with multiple narrators, most of the kids (characters ) are around 10 to 13 years old, etc. The protagonist is a Brahmin kid in 5th standard. While playing cricket the ball is lost in the bushes being easy pick and weak Chintya, the protagonist has to pay 11 rupees. He lives in a terror. His friends can’t help him giving money but they cover him cheer him up. He plans lean to catch Bagalas(storks ) and sell them so that he could pay for the cricket ball even he would help his uncle with money so that his uncle’s hunch. Kid world of the kids by the kids for the kids as well as adults. The novel has many undercurrents dealing with social, cultural, educational, ethnic, rural life, etc., related issues.
